…and you thought Proverbs 31 was all about women…
You read that right. This piece of writing is about the Proverbs 31 man, and not the Proverbs 31 woman. Somehow, this chapter has become a hallmark passage that both men and women turn to when they want to discover what a Godly wife is. However, half of the chapter talks about a man; a Godly man. Let me prove this to you. Let’s get started!

Where is God?
Where is God when everything falls apart around you?
Where is God when a financial crisis leaves you desperate?
Where is God when your spouse is diagnosed with terminal illness?
Where is God when you fail out of college even though you did your best?
Where is God when your brother is a heroin addict?
Where is God when you don’t understand why you cannot stop lusting?
Where is God when you are confused about your gender?
Where is God when you lose your job and your home?
Where is God when you lose your family?
Where is God when your father is beating your mother?
Where is God when you are being abused?
Where is God when a child is trafficked for sex?
Where is God when thousands of children die everyday because of poverry?
Where is God when no matter how much you pray, your spouse dies, you lose everything, you’re still jobless, your brother is still addicted to heroin, you are still battling lust, you are confused about your gender, your family has abandoned you, your mother is still being beaten, you are being beaten, children are still being trafficked for sex and dying everyday because of poverty, and everything in your life has fallen apart?

John 14: Jesus Reassures the Disciples
John 14 takes place just after the upper room discourse where Jesus calls out Judas Iscariot as the betrayer (13:21; 13:26-27). Jesus also spends this time explaining – albeit cryptically – to His disciples that He is going to soon face death (13:33-38). Jesus describes His death by telling the disciples that He will be going somewhere that they cannot come. Peter immediately tells Jesus that he – that is, Peter – will follow Jesus wherever He goes, even exclaiming that he will lay his life down for Jesus. That is where John 14 begins.

But it’s probably not for the reason you think it is.
Let me first give some background. I’m 25. My wife is Filipino. I live in the Philippines. And that basically makes me half Filipino (right??). Here’s us:
I have been living in the Philippines on and off for the past two years. Shortly after Typhoon Yolanda, a team from my hometown came over to aid in reconstruction, rehabilitation, and redevelopment. I was part of that team.
That’s where this all begins.
